Graham Jaunay's excellent book A Parish Finder for England
is available in a new edition now. This book is a wonderful
help in finding parishes, and the dedications of each parish.
I would place this title as a core reference book in the
library of anyone whose family moved from one parish to
another or who have lineage in several counties (most of
us).

of Genealogists, London
Also available on CD. This format provides
the researcher with a huge range of new options that can
never be provided by a book. The program which is a cross
platform kiosk production can be used in research...
• An old Will refers to the parish's old
name eg Wodell - Parish finder tells you it is
now Odell.
• Handwriting means some letters are obscured - a wildcard search may
reveal the parish.
• You know only the dedication of the parish church and the region - a search will reveal
options.
• You cannot find records at the turn of the century
for say Furze Platt BRK, Parish finder tells you
this parish was created in 1928 and you need to be searching
Cookham, Cookham Dean, Maidenhead St Luke, and Stubbings
from which the parish was created.
Parish finder has Ordnance Reference numbers, even for places
not on present day maps!
• HM parishes have a church called St Benet?
Parish finder has the answer - 7 and all were extinct
by 1974.
• HM London churches were destroyed in the Great Fire?
Parish finder knows!
• Do you know which 3 parishes shared the same yard
in Norfolk each with their own church? Parish finder
does!
Parish finder also has general information about the counties,
sees and parishes including how to find their records.
