Can you give me an idea of the cost to undertake my research?

Without knowing the details we cannot really say how much your project will cost and any quote on this basis could easily be misleading.

• The time taken to locate an individual can vary considerably.
• Common names are harder to isolate.
• Small populations in rural areas means there are far fewer people to choose from than in the cities.
• The time period under search affects the time taken for the search.
Some people already know something about their family that may lessen the amount of searching required and thus reduce the costs. Knowing the exact year of an event can mean the search can be completed very quickly, whereas a ten-year period may involve many similarly named individuals that have to be checked.

The location of the records will determine the costs. Many non-Australian countries charge a much higher rate than we would expect to pay locally.

Adelaide Proformat will never undertake a large project without frequent updates and reports and we seek permission to continue on to the next step. As a rule of thumb we usually undertake a research program in partnership with our clients so that they can manage the costs.

We will try and give an idea of the possible cost if you supply us with the outline details for a search. Alternatively you can state a cost limit and we will not exceed it.
