Army Museum of South Australia Keswick Barracks

The Army Museum of South Australia Keswick Barracks is open on Sundays and Public Holidays from 12.00pm to 4.00pm. The museum is located in one of the former stables used by light horse regiments.

army The aim of the collection is to preserve and exhibit the history of the Australian Army in South Australia. A significant part of the collection is the Grey Collection which is considered as one of the most important collections of badges in Australia.

The museum also houses the following collections: Royal South Australian Regiment Historical Collection, Third Forward General Hospital Collection, and 144th Signal Squadron Historical Collection.

For any family historian with ancestors who served in the military, the museum is a must to gain an understanding of the three phases of military history of South Australia—the British garrison era 1836–1870; the colonial army period 1870–1901; the Commonwealth era 1901 onwards.
